Church History 1980 - 1989


On October 26, 1980 there was a record attendance of 365 in Sunday School.

In June, 1981, Paul and Kitty Horner were called for Youth and Outreach Ministries.

In 1982 First Baptist Church purchased the house and lot south of the church for $21,000.00.

In June 1982 our pastor, Stanton Cram, Paul Horner and about 18 other members went on a Mission Trip to Indianna on the Arkansas-Indiana Statewide Mission Emphasis.

In January 1983, Rev. Stanton Cram left to become pastor in Harrison, Ark. On May 23, 1983 Dan Hammers became our pastor.

In 1983 a storage building was purchased for $750.00. The balcony was carpeted and the roof of the church building was remodeled and changed to a gable roof.

In 1985 Keenagers organized a group ministry for the older adults to meet monthly to plan trips and other educational meetings. Tweenagers also organized (ages between teenagers and keenagers).

In 1985 the Annual Bible School was held June 24th through 28th with 192 average attendance and 25 decisions for the Lord.

In 1986 the Annual Bible School was held June 23rd through 27th with 213 average attendance and 3 decisions for the Lord. In July 1986 our pastor left to further his education at the University of Arkansas.

In December of 1986 the parsonage was totally remodeled with new cabinets, stove, carpet, garbage disposal and bathroom fixtures.

In December of 1986, the church called Bro. Charles Womack to be our new pastor starting January 11, 1987.

In 1987 the Annual Bible School was held June 22-26, with 217 total enrollment with an average attendance of 167. We had a total of 46 adults working in V.B.S.

In In February of 1988 the church called Stephen Brubaker as our Minister of Music and Youth starting March 1st.

In 1988 the Annual Bible School was held June 20-24 with 229 total enrollment with an average attendance of 166.

In November of 1988 the church committed itself to go to Cody, Wyoming on a Mission Trip in July of 1989.

In 1989 the Annual Bible School was held June 12-16 with a total enrollment of 241 with an average attendance of 154.

In July 1989, eighteen church members went to Cody, Wyoming on a Mission Trip. A church van was donated to the church in Cody and driven there by two other church members.

On November 12th, 1989, First Baptist Church of Pea Ridge voted by secret ballot 46-51 in favor of relocating and building a new Baptist Church.
